Here's my entry:

My Only Pair of Shoes

Years ago, back in the age when I was young and my family was not as financially stable as they are today, buying a pair of shoes is a huge luxury and sin in my mom's eyes. Education was their goal to provide and not luxuries they never had the chance to enjoy as well. As a young kid in grade school I was always bullied by my classmates that I only wear 1 pair of shoes. Mom always reminded me that I need to take care of my shoes because I will have to wait for it to wear off before we could buy a new one. Seeing the situation made me value my only pair of shoes, cleaning it and making sure it's tidy before I leave it back to it's tiny box so it could serve it's purpose the day after.

As days go by, me and my only pair of shoes got somewhere really nice, in the stage where I took my first medal in first grade. I wasn't just proud of myself being the top student, I am also proud that my most loved shoes brought me where I am today. It made me realize that having too many or too little of something couldn't measure where you'll be in the future, it's how you value the little things that matter. And for that little pair of shoes I loved, all the thank yous in the world.
